The interview process tends to be the worst...

But it doesn't have to be!

Interviewing is usually a long and overwhelming operation marked by a lack of information and an ominous feeling of doubt.

We care a lot about breaking this reputation and facilitating a process that reflects our mission as a company:

To be uniquely exceptional in how we relate with our Clients, Associates, Trade Partners, Stakeholders, and Community. As someone entering our hiring process, our commitment is to be uniquely expectational in how we relate to you!

Your Journey to a New Career

At True Homes, we believe in building not just houses, but also careers. Our hiring process is designed to ensure that you find the perfect fit for your skills and aspirations. Here’s a step-by-step timeline of what you can expect when you apply to join our team.
  • Step 1: The Job Search

You’ve been lied to. An interview process does not begin with an application; it begins with a search. All too often, this stage of the process is cut short, and a candidate’s lack of reflection catches up with them later in the process.

Our encouragement to you is to get off Indeed, grab a pen and paper, and consider the big question: “What am I really looking for?” Before you adjust your resume to match a position guide, take inventory of your strengths as an individual. What jobs have you held that you’ve really enjoyed? Conversely, what elements of your previous positions have drained you? What matters most to you in the company you work for, the boss you report to, and the role that you hold? What are you willing to negotiate on and what are your non-negotiables? Start here.

  • Step 2: The Application

Found a role that excites you? Now it's time to craft an application that represents you well. Keep your resume clear, concise, and results-driven. Highlight your impact in past roles with metrics that show your contributions. Your cover letter should be more than a formality—it’s your chance to connect your interest and expertise with this opportunity. Share why you’re interested, how your experience aligns, and what you bring to the table. Make your first impression count.

  • Step 3: First Interview

Congratulations—you’ve reached the interview stage! Your first conversation at True Homes will be a phone call with one of our Talent Acquisition Specialists. This isn’t just about your resume; it’s about getting to know you—your background, career goals, and what excites you about this opportunity. We’ll explore your experience, aspirations, and the impact you hope to make in your next role.

This is also your chance to learn about us. We’ll provide insights into our company culture, team dynamics, and the role beyond the job description. We encourage you to come with questions—we want this to be the right fit for both of us.

  • Step 4: Second Interview

If we both feel there’s a strong alignment, you’ll move on to a second interview with the hiring manager. This face-to-face conversation (in person or via video) will give you a deeper understanding of the role—what success looks like, team goals, and what’s needed from a new hire. The hiring manager will ask how your skills and experience apply, but we also want you to be curious. Use this time to ask about their leadership style, team culture, and anything else that helps you make an informed decision.

At True Homes, interviews are a two-way street—we’re not just evaluating you, we’re helping you evaluate us.

  • Step 5: Skills and Personality Assessment

By this stage, you should have a clear and realistic understanding of the role, the team, and the company. You’ve had the chance to ask questions, meet key players, and assess whether this opportunity truly aligns with your goals. Now, we take a more detailed, strategic approach.

Our hiring process is designed to set new hires up for long-term success. That’s why this stage includes personality questionnaires and role-specific projects or presentations. These assessments allow us to understand your working style, problem-solving approach, and how you might contribute to the team. At the same time, they give you a hands-on feel for the position, helping you gauge your own excitement and fit.

This is a collaborative phase—both sides are gathering valuable insights to ensure the best possible match. The results will help guide our final conversations and, ultimately, the hiring decision.

  • Step 6: Final Interviews

At this point, we’re excited about the possibility of working together. Before making it official, we invite final candidates to meet with one or more of our company Executives. This conversation isn’t about skills—we’ve already assessed your qualifications. Instead, it’s about alignment. We want to ensure that our values, culture, and vision resonate with you just as much as the role itself.

To help with this, we’ll provide insights into our company culture and the key character traits we look for in every True Homes associate and leader. This step reflects how seriously we take hiring—because we know you take your career just as seriously.

  • Why This All Matters

Where you work impacts your life, your future, and your family. That’s why we invest in a thoughtful hiring process—to build a team that thrives both inside and outside the office. If this level of intentionality speaks to you, we’d love to see you apply!
